Help Convict Dick and W

The Bush cabal's time may be coming to a close, but their crimes will live on in history. Do your part to help bring them to justice, and show the world we care about atonement and correcting this foul time in America.

Follow the instructions below. Your message will go straight to Obama's people:

  1. Sign in at http://change.gov/openforquestions and remember you have to set up a login for yourself at that site to vote.

  2. Click on "Additional Issues" under "Pick a Topic" on the left.

  3. The special prosecutor question started by "Bob Fertik" should be the one leading the top of that section (and now leading all questions over all topics with 16,000 votes).

  4. Look right for the checkbox, mouseover it so it goes from white to dark, then click to cast your vote.
Please cast your vote as soon as possible, as the voting may close at any time. They may not work straight through holiday weekends, but we DO.

What this means is that Obama will now have to ANSWER this question on his official site, just as if he had accepted this question at a real press conference. And we're going to keep the heat on in every other possible way, just stay tuned.

Support Impeachment Hearings NOW!

WexlerWantsHearings.com

This, from Representative Robert Wexler:

Our effort to hold the Bush/Cheney Administration accountable has taken another dramatic step forward. Last night, Congressman Dennis Kucinich introduced the first Articles of Impeachment ever to be introduced against President Bush. It includes, in total, thirty-five Articles detailing this Administration's blatant abuse of power. Today, I enthusiastically co-sponsored this vitally important bill.

I am grateful for Dennis' leadership on this issue and for the steadfast support that countless Americans have given to both of our efforts to redeem our government and expose the crimes of Bush and Cheney.

I will now expand my efforts to secure impeachment hearings in the Judiciary Committee for these new Articles of Impeachment against President George W. Bush.

Many of the charges against President Bush are well known – and would shock the conscience of everyday Americans if only the national media would be willing to report on these stark facts.

The Articles present a stunning narrative of offenses that have go well beyond previous crimes committed by any US chief executive. In fact no President or Vice President in history has done more to undermine our constitution.

These charges are broad, with 35 separate allegations including the deliberate lies regarding WMDs that led us to war and the approval of illegal wiretapping of American citizens. The Articles also include new allegations of high crimes – including the explicit approval for high Administration officials to violate treaties and US law banning the use of torture.

The Democratic Party gained a majority in the House and Senate due in large part to our promises to end the corruption of the Republican majority and to hold the Administration accountable to the law. This courageous bill is a crucial step towards fulfilling this promise, but – like the Articles against Cheney – they require your support to convince Democrats and open-minded Republicans to support this bold but necessary action.

Time is running out so we must work together to spread the message and apply pressure.

First, please encourage your friends and family members to sign up at WexlerWantsHearings.com – as it will allow us to keep in touch with you and speak to a wider audience. If you haven't yet put in your phone and address, please sign up again, as we will be doing telephone town halls in the near future.

Second, call your representative and urge them to support Impeachment hearings.

Finally, contact newspapers, news stations, and your favorite bloggers and urge them to report on this movement. We need to keep Impeachment a significant news story until the Democratic leadership sees the value in it.

McClellan Agrees to Testify:

I was pleased to inform you yesterday that Judiciary Committee Chairman Conyers met my call to have Former White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan testify under oath. I am thrilled to inform you that McClellan has agreed to testify on June 20th at 10AM. This will be the first step in what we hope will be ongoing and deepening examinations of the stark evidence and charges against both President Bush and Vice President Cheney.

Thank you for your continued passion and advocacy. Your support means so much to me.

Sincerely,

Congressman Robert Wexler

The Impeachment of Dick Cheney, Not

Huffington Post, Nov. 7, 2007:

…one year ago yesterday, we elected the Democrats in overwhelming numbers to amplify our screaming voices to a decibel loud enough to penetrate the unchecked corridors of power in Washington -- we hired this party to speak for us and to use this expressed authority to end the war and to hold this historically unpopular executive regime accountable.

To date and with the exception of some admirable investigations by a few standout lawmakers, the Democrats have done nothing to make good on their mandate from you and me.

It was yesterday, on the one year anniversary of the collapse of Karl Rove's thousand-year Reich, when the Democrats subjected themselves to both public embarrassment and public disgrace, and each within a few hours of the other.

Read the story and weep. This is a sad, sad day for America. The Democrats could not stand up for democracy. It generally began to unfold in '30s Germany like this.

Dick has no formal opposition now. Your mandate has officially been neutered by the people you elected to execute it. Bombs away, baby. Bombs away. Your democracy is dead, and you stood by watching, didn't you?

Act Today! Impeach Cheney!

Support the Impeach Cheney resolution. Call your representative today!

Here is the phone number for the Capitol switchboard: 1-800-828-0498

Alternate numbers to contact your member of Congress:
1-800-862-5530
1-800-833-6354

The call is toll free and will take less than 2 min. of your time. If you don't know who your member of Congress is, simply give the Capitol switchboard operator your zip code and they will tell you. They will then connect the call directly to your Rep.'s office. (What could be easier?)

Background & What to Say: Congressman Dennis Kucnich (D-OH), introduced ARTICLES OF IMPEACHMENT AGAINST VICE PRESIDENT DICK CHENEY in April 2007. The bill, H.Res. 333, now has 22 co-sponsors. (Here's a chart of all members of Congress, where they stand on impeachment.)

Tomorrow (Tues. Nov. 6th), Rep. Kucinich will introduce a privileged resolution on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives to force an up or down vote impeachment of the vice president. That is WHY you must contact them TODAY (or early tomorrow morning at the latest)! Likely, another member of congress will move to table (kill) Kucinich's resolution for a vote (in order to prevent the articles of impeachment from being voted on). Tell your representative that you want them to Vote NO on tabling the resolution & YES on impeachment. (House members who vote YES to table will no longer be able to claim that their reason for not moving to impeach was because "We don't have enough votes on impeachment", since many others will be voting NO on tabling at the same time. (For more info on House parliamentary procecedure and how it's all likely to play out on Tuesday see: http://courtofimpeachmentandwarcrimes.blogspot.com/2007/11/dennis-bringing-issue-to-floor.html)
